Montelongo’s supports effort by ‘Brazos Valley Cares’ for graduating veteransApril 18, 2018
Brazos Valley Cares posted on their Facebook page last week that due to the cost of their cap and gown, many veterans do not get to participate in their graduation ceremony from Texas A&M. Montelongo’s has responded, encouraging everyone to make a donation to the group by matching all donations to the cause up to $2,000.
“The BCS community is amazing in the way they rally to help veterans, said Brazos Valley Cares Chairman, Kevin Krolczyk. “Brazos Valley Cares typically works with veterans who have emergencies or organization who are awarded grants, and when Karen came to us with this idea, we absolutely wanted to be a part of it.”
The goal is to raise more than $4,000 to be able to purchase 80 caps and gowns to be used by local veterans in this upcoming graduation ceremony.
“These brave young men and women have sacrificed years away from their families, as well as taking time off from beginning their education and careers to protect our freedoms, and we don’t want the cost of a cap and gown to keep them from celebrating this huge accomplishment with their friends and family,” said Montelongo’s Fine Jewelry CEO, Jesse Montelongo. “We’re proud of every single graduating veteran, and hope that this effort allows all of them to take that walk across the stage.”
Those wishing to donate online may do so through Brazos Valley Cares’ online donation portal. For those who prefer to make a gift by check, you may drop off a check at Montelongo’s Fine Jewelry, on University Drive, Monday-Friday from 10am-6pm, and Saturday from 10am-4pm, or mail to:
